Located just inside the city walls, minutes from York Train Station, The Grand, York is the city's finest hotel. Built in 1906 as the headquarters of the North Eastern Railway, the Edwardian building retains its original splendour, with intricate stonework, marble detailing and sweeping stone staircases. Following a recent £15m redevelopment, The Grand has doubled in size, and now boasts 207 luxury bedrooms, including several suites and a Penthouse suite, two restaurants, The Rise Restaurant, Terrace & Bar for casual dining, an outdoor Courtyard, and the 1906 Bar. In the atmospheric former vaults, The Spa at The Grand features a 14m swimming pool, Nordic dry sauna, state-of-the-art gym and several treatment rooms, and the White Rose Lounge offers a relaxed and comfortable place to work for suite guests and private members. There are seven event spaces at The Grand, York with capacity for up to 120 delegates. The flagship space, The Grand Boardroom, boasts original features, floor to ceiling windows and oak-paneled walls, with views towards the city walls and York Minster, providing the perfect backdrop for large events and conferences, whereas some of our more intimate rooms, Butterworth and Paterson are suitable for eight guests each. The Cookery School at The Grand, York is the final piece of the £15m redevelopment, headed up Head Chef Tutor Andrew Dixon. The Cookery School creates unique and immersive experiences for both leisure and corporate guests with a selection of half-, full-day and express classes.
